Here are a few highlights from the BNP’s London manifesto:

Transport

• Scrap the congestion charge. The BNP is the only major party committed to scrapping the congestion charge. Average speeds in the central congestion charge zone have actually fallen since this was introduced in 2003.

• Replace bendy buses with Routemasters. Bendy buses are not only dangerous but cause congestion, encourage fare-dodging and are less than half as fuel efficient as the Routemasters they replaced. Restoring the Routemaster would therefore be cost-effective as well as providing a better service to passengers.

• Introduce conductors on ALL double deckers. Conductors would both eliminate fare-dodging – which currently costs around £50 million per year – and would also improve passenger safety, thus encouraging greater use.

• Improve traffic flow. This can be improved by removing bus lanes, widening roads and eliminating bottlenecks. The BNP would get traffic moving in London.

• Stop persecuting the motorist. The BNP would adopt motorist-friendly policies, such as eliminating the vast majority of speed cameras, making residents parking permits free, and allowing free parking for the first hour.

• Build a new London airport. The BNP proposed the building of a new airport in the Thames Estuary FOUR YEARS AGO. Now Boris Johnson is trying to copy the BNP’s policy – better late than never! The BNP would also ban ALL night flights at Heathrow and reduce the number of daytime flights there. We are waiting for Boris to back these BNP policies too.

Safety and security

• Crack down on street gangs. It is accepted and acknowledged that immigration has contributed to the increase in gang crime. The police must be instructed to drop their political correctness and crack down on members of street gangs.

• Find, arrest and deport illegals and overstayers. Illegal immigrants and overstayers are a burden on society and police must target them for arrest and removal.

• Ban the veil from public buildings and transport. The Islamic face veil makes recognition impossible and is a threat to our security. We would ban this from all public buildings in London and from London Transport.

Housing

• Stop anti-white discrimination. Housing allocation is unfair to white Londoners. We would make length of residency in an area a main criterion for housing allocation, and would oppose all housing associations which favour migrants and ethnic minorities.

• Build on brownfield sites only. We oppose all building on the green belt. There are ample brownfield sites and building should only take place here.

Council Tax

• Less waste – lower council taxes. We would scrap all the politically correct waste encouraged by Red Ken and the likes of Lee Jasper. We would reduce the Mayor’s GLA precept on council taxes and encourage boroughs to reduce their council tax too.

Green issues

• Put solar panels on all public buildings. We must increase our use of renewable energy. We would therefore promote the development, production and use of photovoltaic panels.

• Plant more trees. We would like to see more trees in London, and would consider planting fruit trees (apples, pears, plums, etc) to provide Londoners with free fruit which would be a boost for public health.

• Save the free plastic carrier bag. Plastic carrier bags can and should be made degradable. Once this is done the campaign against them becomes wholly illogical and counter productive and will harm the lowest paid who re-use these bags as rubbish bags. Use of black bin liners has increased fourfold in Ireland since free carrier bags were banned.

2012 Olympics

• Offer the Olympics to Greece. The BNP opposed the Olympic bid four years ago. We said it would be inordinately expensive and a logistical nightmare and we have been proved right, as usual. Furthermore, the BNP is the party of heritage and tradition – not only for Britain but for all countries. The Olympics are part of Greece’s heritage and we therefore believe they should be held there permanently. We will therefore offer the 2012 Olympics to Athens.

Culture

• No new mosques. Britain is a Christian country, not an Islamic one. There are more than enough mosques in London already and we would therefore prevent any new mosques from being developed.

• Celebrate St George’s Day and Trafalgar Day. St George’s Day should be promoted in London, not ignored as Ken Livingstone has consistently done. All public buildings and London buses should fly the flag of St George and there should be parades and celebrations in Trafalgar Square and in high streets across the capital. Trafalgar Day should also be celebrated.
